Days away from the winter Solstice, under the last full moon of the year, it’s another late night in Santa’s Sonoran workshop aka my room.

In numerology, 2021 is a 5 year (2+0+2+1). Five is a number of humanity. In Tarot, it corresponds to the Heirophant. When I think about the number five I think about grade 5 and I think about my hands. Grade 5 was an unfortgettable and transforming year for me. So much so that for many years after, it was my least favorite number and I actively avoided or dreaded things that came in fives. This year, with the help of the hierophant, my crafting hands, and the recurrent theme of clocks that read 5:55 at the exact moment I look at them, I’ve finally made peace with the number.

What are you making peace with as this year winds down? What do you see in your hands? What husk has been shed and what grows underneath? What skills and seeds and dreams are you planting in the new world?

If you feel moved to share your reflections, Wisdom Body is seeking writers and artists to reflect on the ways we learn to heal and mother ourselves, heal the world, and reimagine winter traditions.

This coming Solstice Tuesday at 7pm MDT, you’re invited to a virtual Salon to share artworks in progress and share in discussion. This casual gathering will be the first in a series of seasonal salons — one of the seeds I’m planting in the new year. And one that I hope will grow into a new tradition. Email me for the zoom link.

I hope to see you on Tuesday. In the mean time, as my mom often says, be kind to yourself.
