The Corn Moon: Connection

a shifting of earth, a shifting of time

The corn moon reached its fullness around one am, which was eleven pm for most of the collective, and eight am for Chloe. The moon’s time holding us apart and together, suspended in our integral space. The time has come to harvest.

This month time moved swiftly as we continued to move within and outside of ourselves — new homes, new jobs, travel, all to settle into the cusp of fall. Stephanie Michele Hempel calls this a transference, change, alteration — like the moon, and new clothes for school, which for some no longer happens, or no longer happens face to face.

To some degree, I am beginning to wonder if this new mode of school is an escape from life, or the mode of contemplative connection now. Are we escaping our lives, or has home become even less material within this fragile culture?

Stephanie Michele Hempel prompted us to explore our senses with a series of contemplative walks. C. M. Chady took her usual route with her dog. I rode my bike on the Brooklyn promenade. Emily Willow returned to the smokey haze of Boulder. Stephanie Michele Hempel’s anger moved through her feet. Chloe Tsolakoglou examined her calloused toes at the cave of Dionysus’ birth. We found ourselves within our bodies through our senses in moments of stillness, through bouts of movement as we fell deeper into the world.

Selena Milewski shared her experience working with the Tarot in divinatory writing, a series that continues later this week.

As we move into fall, I am always reminded of Meg Ryan’s (Nora Ephron) quote in You’ve Got Mail, connoting fall to the beginning of the school year. I would send you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address.

From Wisdom Body to our readers, this bouquet is for you.
