Are You Experiencing Existential Discomfort?
It might explain why you feel disconnected.
If you often feel as though you don’t belong or are disconnected from life, the root cause could lie deeper than circumstances — it might be that your soul feels uncomfortable in your body. By acknowledging the purpose of your journey, you can begin to reconnect with the essence of who you truly are.
A Moment of Clarity
Recently, I watched a video that profoundly resonated with me. The insights shared shook me to my core, unlocking a level of understanding I hadn’t realized I needed.
Before you were born into this human vessel, you were an eternal soul — limitless, divine, and fully connected to everything. Choosing to experience life in a physical form brought a sense of separation that was entirely new and foreign. For many, this separation is so intense that they struggle to fully embrace the human experience they are here to have.
Rabbi Shais Taub explains this phenomenon beautifully:
“so many issues that people are complaining about today, and calling by other names are actually… the soul struggling with embodiment, the soul being uncomfortable in this container, and the limitations of the container and also all of the sensory input that are flooding the consciousness, called the soul.”
Circumstantial vs. Existential Discomfort
Circumstantial discomfort arises when external factors in life cause pain or suffering — such as a difficult job, strained relationships, or financial stress. In contrast, existential discomfort stems from the very experience of being in a physical body.
This deep feeling of disconnection can lead to unhealthy coping mechanisms, often providing only fleeting relief. It is in this space that many addictions are born.
But there is a way to ease this discomfort — without adding further harm.
Embracing the Self on a Spiritual Level
Healing begins with practices like meditation, grounding, breathwork, and — most importantly — unconditional self-love and compassion. However, the first step is recognizing and accepting that while you are not your body, this body is yours. It needs your care and love, just as much as you need it to navigate this life.
Honoring your body as a vessel for your soul’s journey on Earth involves:
- Loving and nurturing it.
- Acknowledging that the disconnection you feel is an illusion — you were never severed from your divine origins.
- Remembering that you remain as connected to the divine as you were before embodiment.
Last night, I revisited Rabbi Taub’s video numerous times. Each viewing deepened my understanding and connection. Instinctively, I placed my hand on my heart. In that moment, I acknowledged the pain and exhaustion my body has endured — a body plagued by illness and weakness. But I also felt immense love and compassion, both for my body and my soul.
That moment brought a revelation: I chose this life, and it holds profound purpose. I was overwhelmed with gratitude for my body’s resilience and willingness to carry me through this journey. Suddenly, I felt whole, reconnected with all that I am.
The Path Forward
Take time to sit with this information and reflect on whether it resonates with you. When you feel ready, choose to embrace the unique experience you are having. In doing so, your purpose will unfold in ways more profound than you can imagine.
The bigger picture will reveal itself, and you may never see your life the same way again.
Final Message:
Take comfort in knowing that your journey, no matter how challenging, is filled with purpose and meaning. By embracing the experience fully, you allow yourself to grow into the most authentic and connected version of who you truly are.
