WisdomCircle AI: Transforming Recruitment

Recruiters often face the daunting task of sifting through numerous applications to identify the right talent. On the other hand, candidates struggle to find roles that align with their experience and unique skills. With the advent of AI technologies like ChatGPT, we at WisdomCircle, saw an opportunity to address these challenges. We created — WisdomCircle AI, our proprietary matching algorithm that tackles these issues of matching talent & roles, by offering tailored recommendations for both WisGen (seasoned professionals, typically above the age of 50) and recruiters.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Generating Summaries and Embeddings: We generate summaries of WisGen profiles and roles posted by recruiters. The secret sauce is knowing which fields to include when creating these summaries and how important they are to the matching process. Then, we use an embedding model to create embeddings of these summaries, allowing us to match based on the meaning of words, rather than just the words themselves. For example, words like “software” and “technology” are similar in meaning, even though they are different terms.
  2. Similarity Evaluation: Next, the algorithm evaluates the similarity between the roles summaries and the profile summaries to generate recommendation lists. The first list Candidate Recommendations for Recruiters - WisdomCircle AI recommends candidate profiles to recruiters based on the roles they post whom recruiters can invite to apply. The second list is Role Recommendations for WisGen - WisdomCircle AI recommends work opportunities to WisGen that match profiles and preferences.

Advantages of this approach:

  1. For recruiters, the targeted matching helps in quickly viewing profiles of suitable candidates. Further, by proactively inviting suitable candidates to apply to the role they receive more relevant applications.
  2. For WisGen, this personalized approach ensures that they can easily find roles that suit their skills and aspirations rather than exploring all kinds of roles that may not match their requirements.
  3. Additionally, receiving an invitation to apply from recruiters, also helps WisGen prioritise which roles to apply to.

Beyond matching candidates and role, we also leverage AI to create delightful experiences for our users:

  1. Profile Summaries for Recruiters: We show recruiters a summary of the WisGen’s profile at the top of the WisGen’s detailed profile. This helps them get a gist of the candidate’s experience without going through their entire work experience and educational qualifications.
  2. Profile Completion for WisGen: We help WisGen complete their profiles, in few seconds, by parsing their existing resume/CV to auto-populate their profiles (using an AI tool called Affinda).
  3. Contextual Images for WisGen: Instead of using generic stock images that often don’t feature older adults, we created contextual images for features like our values game (using MidJourney). You can read more about this here.

What’s next? Here are other use cases we are working on:

  1. Enabling WisGen to put their best foot forward by highlighting areas in their profiles that are missing or can be improved. As WisdomCircle, we deliberately stay away from auto-editing WisGen profiles using AI, because this can distort how candidates want to present themselves to recruiters.
  2. Helping recruiters improve role descriptions so that they are suitable for senior professionals. As WisdomCircle, we avoid auto-suggesting generic role descriptions, since they do not bring out nuances that recruiters might want to present to candidates.
  3. Suggesting screening and interview questioning to recruiters based on the role description.
  4. Showing recruiters a score on applications so that they can prioritize reviewing high-match applications.
  5. Showing “similar” profiles, if a recruiter selects a profile from our talent pool.
