My Mom Taught Me to Play Hooky

Some things are more important than perfect attendance

When I was a kid in school there was a big chart that hung on the wall in the classroom. There was a line for every student and a space for every day where we could put a sticky gold star when the attendance was called. It was a thrill to put that star beside your name and see the row grow like a battalion of soldiers.

As women, when we enter our later years we have such glorious possibilities! We have an opportunity to heal, forgive, make peace, explore, dream, lighten up, become open and curious about where we’ve been and where we’re going. The wise woman within will be our guide.
