Being a part of W4W for this past year has taught me so much. I am currently a first year and W4W is one of the first clubs I got involved with at Tech. I loved its mission and how it worked with a lot of organizations around Atlanta.
I have also learned a lot about the Design Thinking process. I have taken notes for and even participated in our very own Design Thinking workshops which have taught me so much about the process in a hands-on way. I am being trained on how to coach seminars, starting this semester; this creates a space for freshman to get involved in an easy way. I’ve learned how to get into the mindset of Design Thinking as well as how to adapt my own research into a model to use for our Design Thinking workshops. I am really excited to get even more involved and learn a lot more about this process. I am very excited to continue to work on our projects over this summer and to eventually see my own research develop into a persona that participants of our workshop will use in order to learn Design Thinking. I really enjoy working with my team and can’t wait to see what we will accomplish in the next couple of months.
An indirect outcome from my experience is that this organization really helped me meet new people at Tech — even in its virtual format due to COVID-19. I still got to form a community of individuals who are all working towards completing a common goal. It just goes to show, we really are creating the next.
