Twelve months ago, we were at the beginning of what would prove to be one of the most challenging years in modern history. A year that has changed how we work, play, are entertained and even walk the streets. Just two months before Covid started and after a successful beta version, we released the public version of Wisio, a platform my partner Adam and I built to enable meaningful one-on-one connections for the millions of online influencers, mentors, thought leaders and others — we call them ‘Wisors’ — who share their wisdom, experiences, and skills via the web.

Our lighthouse has always been to create a digital space for these interactions, and I am proud to see what we have accomplished. The challenges of the past year focused us: with so many people at home and seeking new outlets for their careers, it became more important than ever that we succeed. Adam and I spoke with thousands of Wisors from around the world in order to fully comprehend their needs. We went back to basics to understand what was essential to Wisors and their communities, and how we could truly act as a conduit between them. Our efforts were fruitful — the number of Wisors on our site more than tripled in 2020, and their revenue increased by over 2500%. But more importantly, thousands of people formed beautiful connections and found a home in Wisio to communicate their challenges, ideas, hopes and dreams authentically — and to connect with the people who most inspire them.

A sampling of Jesse Lyon’s recent answers on Wisio. Lyon is a hypnotherapist with over 250,000 followers on TikTok, who uses his Wisio to offer his community a space to vent, share their dreams, and experience his coaching.

TikTok, Don’t Stop

TikTok, the most recent social media platform to experience massive growth, is fast, fun, and all about authentic, raw connections — just like Wisio. Yet, it remains the Wild West for monetization. There are minimal sponsorship opportunities for TikToker influencers, and many major companies still don’t even have a page on the platform.

Over the past few months, my team and I have fallen in love with TikTok and have begun partnering with a growing number of TikTokers. It has been incredible watching them monetize authentically for the first time, while enabling them to support their community in a much more personal way.

Thinking Bigger: What’s Next on Wisio

The past few months have been very significant to me as I continue to witness Wisio’s special impact. We have expanded internationally and now have creators from six continents. Our website (www.wisio.com) is available in five languages to reflect our international user base, with plans for additional translations.

We’re also getting ready to launch new features to help Wisors and their followers support one another in deeper ways. Get ready for mentorship, smart chat, and live video capabilities, our upcoming mobile app, and more.

We’re proud to be your place to form meaningful connections with your audience and we’re looking forward to making 2021 as impactful as possible, doing good for millions.
