From June 27, 2023, wit.ai will move from using Facebook accounts to Meta accounts for login. The wit.ai landing page will show a button “Continue with Meta” to replace the old login option “Continue with Facebook”. Upon clicking on the button “Continue with Meta”, you will be navigated through a Meta account authentication process.

The migration to Meta accounts gives you the ability to continue to use wit.ai and your existing apps, while providing the expanded flexibility for authentication.

Wit.ai Landing Page

New to wit.ai

If you’re new to wit.ai, you can create a Meta account or reuse your existing Meta account at the time we transition:

  1. If you don’t have a Meta account, you can create a new one using an email address, a Facebook account, or an Instagram account. The Meta account authentication process offers a clear guidance on account registration.
  2. If you already have a Meta account and you are willing to reuse your existing Meta account, you can just login with your existing Meta account.

After the Meta account authentication, a confirmation view will be displayed for account linking purposes. Once confirmed, a wit.ai account will be created for you.

Existing wit.ai users

If you are wishing to move your wit.ai apps and info from your existing account to your new Meta account, you need to set up your Meta account as follows:

Confirmation View when your Meta account has a linked FB account
  1. If you don’t have a Meta account, you need to create one. And when creating the Meta account, you need to choose the option to continue with the same Facebook account that you are using for wit.ai login (preferred). After the Meta account creation (using your Facebook account) and with your approval of wit.ai accessing your Meta account and migrating your wit.ai data from your Facebook account, you will be able to see all your existing wit.ai apps.
  2. If you have a Meta account linked to the Facebook account that you are already using for wit.ai login, you can directly login with the existing Meta account. After the Meta account authentication, and with your approval of wit.ai accessing your Meta account and migrating your wit.ai data from your Facebook account, you will be able to see all your existing wit.ai apps.
  3. If you have a Meta account and the Meta account is not linked to the Facebook account that you are using for wit.ai login, using your Meta account to login with wit.ai won’t keep your existing wit.ai apps or info. You need to create a new Meta account with the Facebook account that you are using for wit.ai login. The situation will be the same as the first option outlined above.

Once the first-time Meta account login process is completed, you’ll see the wit.ai apps page and your existing wit.ai apps and info will be moved to your Meta account. After that, unless you delete your Meta account, any changes to the Meta account won’t affect your existing wit.ai apps or info. For example, you can remove the Facebook account from your Meta account. The Facebook account link is only useful before the wit.ai data is moved to your Meta account.
