Part of Oxo Tower Wharf on London’s South Bank, Bargehouse is an atmospheric warehouse that will be transformed into the Festival Hub this year, 6–10 September.

Bargehouse is the place to hang out at the Festival, with exhibitions, VR experiences, networking and parties — all for free.

Bargehouse will also be home to industry talks and sessions, with a dense daily programme on offer. Accredited delegates can register for any event for free online, while those without a pass may also purchase tickets online.

The VR Documentary Showcase at Bargehouse is available for free from Thursday 7 — Sunday 10 September, 11am-5pm daily.

Highlights include First Impressions, an experience from the point of view of a baby by Guardian VR Labs, and Step to the Line, an insight into the US prison system.

One hour slots are available simply by dropping in at Bargehouse at any time during opening hours. Within the hour, you will have the chance to experience each of the six projects.

The Industry Programme is full of opportunities to hear from and speak to the best in the documentary world, from the producers and directors to sound engineers and podcasters.

Highlights include:

Good Filmmaking with Good Intentions: Working with NGOs / Wednesday, September 6–13:00

This workshop explores the ways NGOs have used filmmaking to communicate their message. Featuring representatives from Thomson Reuters; Save The Children; What Took You So Long, and Oxfam.

In the Dark Presents: In The City / Thursday, September 7–17:30

In The Dark is a collective of audio producers who curate listening events for gathered audiences — here they explore urban sounds.

Together Films presents: The Art of Impact / Friday, September 8–11:15

Through the analysis of an art-documentary case study, Together Films will demonstrate their working process and the steps to consider when developing an effective impact distribution strategy.
