We’ve raised €2.5M to supercharge tech communities!🎉

In 2020, when Propel set out to connect African tech talent to the global workforce, the plan was to simply streamline the process of finding suitable roles for tech professionals (developers, designers, product managers, cybersecurity analysts, etc.) across different levels of expertise. Over time, our vision expanded.

With the change in the trend of work accelerated by COVID-19 and the remarkable growth of tech communities across Africa, we shifted our focus towards building an ecosystem for the future of work; aiming to foster the growth, advancement and exposure of the African tech ecosystem as a unified force.

The African tech talent ecosystem holds a lot of promise, and communities are at the forefront of this, creating programs and initiatives that empower, upskill and bring together tech professionals with common goals and interests.

So far, we have enjoyed working with communities to help thousands of people to get access to growth opportunities. We’ve helped them accelerate their careers and placed them into remote and relocation jobs at companies across the globe, offered everyone a chance to save through our exclusive benefits including discounted training fees with online e-learning providers like Treford, discounted gym memberships with iFitness, as well as co-working spaces like Workstation, Mankis, Kukun and so on.

Today, tech talent from these communities can access jobs and benefits directly from our community-as-a-service platform; and communities have insights to run their community with data.

But we wanted to do more, and more we did!

This July, we are excited to announce our raise led by Amsterdam-based No Such Ventures, with participation from APX (an accelerator by Axel Springer Digital Ventures and Porsche Digital), Golden Egg Check and Future of Learning Fund to provide deeper value for the African tech talent ecosystem and strengthen communities like yours.

This milestone not only celebrates our incredible journey so far, but also opens a new chapter in our mission to accelerate the growth of tech communities.

With this raise, we will:

• Work closely with communities to bridge existing employment gaps the and connect their diverse skilled tech talent to fast-growing companies worldwide.
• Provide access to financial services (cash loans, asset financing) to support the professional growth of your members.
• Partner with more providers across the continent for exclusive deals and discounts to help community members thrive.
• Support more community initiatives, events and programs focused on driving inclusion in tech.
• Enhance our community-as-a-service platform for the best user experience and usability.
• Expand our reach into other African countries with increasingly skilled tech talent and budding communities.

We are excited to empower and support the amazing communities that are dedicated to democratizing access to tech careers. Through our efforts in curating talent ecosystems within emerging markets and among underrepresented groups, we aim to make these opportunities more accessible to the global workforce.
