Covid Vaccine? I don’t know her…

One ironic conversation I remember having with my dad during our second lockdown was about the vaccine. I remember we spoke about how long it would take for most of the population where we lived to get the vaccine. My dad had a funny joke about this, “Well if they want people to get the vaccine, just teach Amazon delivery drivers to administer it.” At first, I was confused but he followed up by saying, “The entire neighborhood will be vaccinated by Saturday I hope, Wednesday if they have prime.” This situational irony turned the situation and conversation I was having with my dad into a more humorous one because he managed to make a joke out of a rough situation. I think this is honestly the best way to calm a situation down and make it easier to talk about.

The most ironic thing I have seen during Covid has had to be the increase of people who have dressed up in their old wedding dress and taken pictures in the neighborhood. A lot of people were taking their dresses out of hibernation and taking pictures with them to post on social media to show their parents/family. This has brought together people who are having a hard time finding light during this pandemic and people who enjoy life to the fullest and find a bright side of everything. I didn’t put on a wedding dress but I did use things like costumes or PJ sets to go to the store and to walk around the neighborhood. It was pretty normal at the time to do this so it felt extra comfortable to be able to express myself how I want without being looked at funny.
