I miss hugs. I miss warm hugs in the summer afternoon and hugs in the cold air trying to warm up. I definitely miss hugs when I’m sad and hugs when I’m happy. You can’t hug someone over the phone. We all need human interaction, no matter how much of a people person you aren’t. I know there is at least one person you have wanted to hug that you couldn’t have hugged during this time. We can all sympathize with each other, which is a glimpse of light in this darkness, Sympathy is like a dull flashlight shining through the pitch black. It may not be the best, but it’s still a sign of hope. I hope that one day soon your arms are squeezing your favorite person, and that it is the best damn hug of your life. I also hope that the next time you pass by someone you think about how they might feel in this very moment. You both may be sad, you both may be happy, or you both may just be passing, with no real feeling at all. It is important to remember how others may feel, that way you can feel with someone in need.

Overall, I think that sympathy is important to be able to connect with someone. Of course, hugs are important too, touch is important for connection, but so is feeling. Being sympathetic can create a bond with someone that you may not have had previously. People find comfort in people, and knowing that you’re not the only one feeling things bring just as much comfort as a hug might.
