Announcing the Witnet Testnet Incentive Program!
Calling all tech-savvy node operators: get your portion of the initial $10,000 DAI bounty!
This month saw the launch of Witnet Testnet 6.0. Amongst other exciting developments, this means we are now ready to announce the Witnet Testnet Incentive Program!
The generous incentives include:
- A $10,000 DAI bounty pot allocated for early participants.
- Get your vanity address into the Witnet Genesis Block.
- Learn from others in the community, and prepare for Mainnet launch.

Why run an incentivized testnet program?
As every project knows, it’s very important that networks and protocols are adequately stress-tested to ensure proper performance and reliability before moving onto Mainnet.
Of course, the community’s best interests must come first. Therefore, the program will ensure that all participants who offer their time and their skills are properly and appropriately rewarded.
This will also be a great opportunity for any enthusiastic Witnet community members to dive deep into the protocol, learn the ins-and-outs of operating a node before Mainnet, and get to know other members of the community and share ideas, expertise and creativity.
The Testnet Incentive Program will be split into two phases, detailed below.
What are the details for Phase 1?

At this phase, we’re looking for 15–20 highly technical node operators to provide in-depth feedback, stress-test the network and engage in community conversations.
The Witnet Foundation has allocated $10,000 worth of DAI for these participants. This will be split into two parts:
- The top 5 most active node operators (between now and Mainnet) will each receive a bounty of $500 USD worth of DAI.
- The remaining $7500 will be USD worth of DAI will be distributed to engaged operators on a discretionary basis. The more engaged someone is, the more of this pie you’ll receive.
In addition to the financial incentive, these node operators will also:
- Have their own Vanity Address inserted into Witnet’s genesis block, there as a public and permanent plaque.
- Learn the ins-and-outs of the Witnet protocol whilst getting rewarded, putting you ahead of the competition when we launch Witnet Mainnet.
- Get acknowledged through our newsletters and social media channels.
To participate, node operators will be required to:
- Run a Witnet node with a publicly routable and static IP address from now until Witnet Mainnet launch, and be mostly online.
- Test, and generally play around with the network. The more feedback you provide, the more things you break or uncover on the network, the more you’ll be rewarded.
- Be an active and engaged participant in the Witnet Telegram and Discord communities.
- Help troubleshoot issues faced by other node operators on the network.
- Complete a short closing questionnaire.
What about Phase 2?
The details of Phase Two are still being decided by the community. However, we can say:
- There will be plenty more incentives for everyone involved.
- This phase will be open to all (technical, non-technical, phase 1 participants, your grandma, your grandma’s dog etc.).
