Witnet securely providing Dogechain with data feeds
The Witnet oracle is securely providing price feeds, randomness, and GraphQL feeds to Dogechain’s Polygon edge chain.
What is Witnet
Witnet is a layer one decentralized oracle network that provides true cryptoeconomic guarantees to smart contracts, rather than trust.
Because Witnet is a layer one, the incentive of the network was able to be crafted different than other oracle solutions. Instead of utilizing KYC on node operators, Witnet actually has mechanisms in place to make it more expensive to lie than to tell the truth, and because of it there are thousands of nodes operating at any given time.
Witnet has been live since October 2020 and Dogechain represents its 22 second EVM compatible chain. The network is now offering its entire suite of products from price feeds to randomness and HTTP Get/Post.
Currently, the Witnet Foundation is offering a small grant to the Dogechain ecosystem as part of this collaboration. The grant includes the subsidization of the DOGE/USD price on testnet and mainnet. Developers can read from this contract directly and claim a free price feed update by doing so!
Randomness is also available as an inexpensive solution for getting verified random number generation fed into your contract. To get started with that take a look at the WitnetRandomness contract.
Why this is a great integration
Dogechain already has multiple millions in total value locked, and because of that it is really important for Witnet to move there. When there is already building on any particular chain it is super important that Witnet comes out the clear oracle solution upon integration, and that’s what happened here.
On top of that, the Dogechain team came directly to Witnet because they have a few projects looking for an oracle. We expect the majority of users in the early days of the collaboration to be users of the randomness oracle, and as people become more familiar with Witnet and word of mouth spreads, Witnet will see much more usage with the price feeds.
This further legitimizes the Witnet oracle because it is available on yet another chain, and furthering its reach across the ecosystem to become a dominant oracle solution in DeFi.
Dogechain is expected to grow and we are so excited to join them in their mission.
