Witnet Testnet Incentive Program Phase 2 is here.
After distributing 10,000 $DAI, Phase 1 of the Witnet Testnet Incentive Program is complete. Phase 2 will take us to Mainnet and beyond, with as many as 25,000,000 WIT and 30,000 $DAI up for grabs! Please note: U.S persons and those under the age of 18 are not applicable to take part.
A huge thank you to all participants for a successful Phase 1 of the Witnet Testnet Incentive Program; a total of 10,000 $DAI has been distributed, with participants earning up to 1500 $DAI 💰.
We’re now ready to begin Phase 2; we’ll need a wide range of skills to carry us through the next phase; so no matter who you are, there are plenty of ways to get involved.
This is your chance to get your hands on Mainnet WIT tokens before everybody else, and use them to resolve data requests on Witnet’s Decentralized Oracle Network.

Rewards and rules:
For Phase 2, we are looking at a much broader participation, with no limit on the number of participants. Accordingly, the Witnet Foundation has allocated a much larger reward pool:
- Up to 25,000,000 WIT tokens (1% of the total WIT supply)*
- Up to 30,000 $DAI
To participate, you must abide by the requirements, as laid out in the Program Terms and Conditions, which include that:
- you are at least 18 years of age
- you are not a U.S. citizen or resident, and you are not participating in the program on account or benefit of a U.S. person
- you understand that any WIT tokens you receive as part of the program are only intended for their use within the Witnet Network and have no intrinsic value outside of the network
3 Ways to Participate:
1. Run a Node
Up to 12.5 Million (50%) of the allocated WIT tokens will be distributed to node operators.
- Run a Witnet node (or multiple nodes) with a publicly routable and static IP address
- No GPU / CPU or expensive hardware needed. Witnet selects miners based on a custom reputation system
- Node operators that propose eligible blocks (an automatic process carried out by your node) during the program will be awarded Mainnet WIT tokens
- No lock-ups! Your WIT tokens will be ready to use as soon as Mainnet launches
2. Find Bugs and Build
Up to 30,000 $DAI has been allocated to hackers, technical whizz-kids and bug-hunters. Allocations will be made on a discretionary basis by the Witnet Foundation, using the guidelines as outlined by OWASP and HackerOne.
- Build and deploy dApps that use the Witnet protocol or provide vital system information = Up to 1000 $DAI per dApp
- Create a Witnet data request that affects the network in some unpredictable way or that breaks the network = Up to 1000 $DAI
- Uncover a bug, or coordinate an attack which potentially affects liveness, safety, censorship or hard fork on the network = Up to 5000 $DAI

3. Contribute to Witnet
Up to 12.5 Million (50%) of the allocated WIT tokens will be awarded to contributors in the community.

- Run a regular Witnet webinar or webcast
- Organize a Witnet meetup or hackathon
- Invite people to be node operators
- Introduce a project that adopts Witnet
