The educational system in Nigeria is going digital, no doubt about that. On the global scene, learning has already broken out of the four walls of the traditional classroom and is comfortably at home in the cloud.

Technology companies in various countries like India are doing a great job deploying smart classroom and education solutions. It’s time for Nigeria to take her place.

Examination bodies like the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) have taken some steps in the right direction.

They have phased out the old paper and pen Unified Tertiary Matriculation Exams (UTME) model in favour of a computer-based exam format.

Another example of education implemented by technology is that of the National Open University of Nigeria, which is largely run by correspondence. Today, there are thousands of online courses on offer on various online learning websites using the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC).

Nigerians have taken to these online courses very well, as they provide a flexible option of studying while working, which enables graduates and employees to improve upon their skills and acquire the relevant certifications that will move their careers to the next level.

But what about the high school students? With Nigeria’s population in the hundreds of millions, eLearning solutions for the secondary school students is not a luxury; it has become a necessity, if we want to engage the teenagers and make them enjoy learning.

Imagine tech-savvy teenagers still being subjected to traditional learning methods…of course there would be that disconnect, that dissatisfaction of learning a subject with the old methods, while playing games, listening to music and surfing the internet using the latest technology.

This is where WizitUp comes in. Wizitup.com is a one-stop eLearning haven for learners and instructors alike. Imagine exam past questions like NECO being solved in a video. That’s the kind of interactive learning available on the site.

Teachers can use it as a reinforcement and a resource tool for their own lessons. Parents can track their children’s learning performance on the site. Students can catch up on school work on the site and take advantage of the practice tests to improve their grades.

All in all, WizitUp is a win-win solution for Nigerian education, and it’s only going to get better!
