WAEC introduces electronic marker in marking its theory questions
West Africa’s foremost examining body West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has brought into operation for the first time, ‘e-marker’ in examination process, beginning with the November/ December West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
According to the Head of WAEC Nigeria National Office, Mr Olutise Adenipekun, the new development will help in the assessment of theoretical questions such that marking will no longer be done manually but electronically.
He also said that that following this innovation, answer booklets will now be combined with the question papers and candidates will henceforth no longer be able to take their theory questions home after their examinations.
According to him, making use of Information Communication Technology (ICT) in marking is aimed not only at ensuring near perfection but to also lead globally in the area of examination integrity.
