Q: How to Edit Environment Categorization on WL-OPC?

Before starting, please make sure your WL-OPC instance up and running!

1.Go to your WL-OPC console and login → http(s)://${HOSTNAMEIP}:${PORT}/opc

2. Go to “Administration / System Settings” page.

3.Select the “System Monitoring” tab and edit the “domain.environment.category.values” property.

4. Property value must be comma separated, key/value pairs. → ${ENVID}:${ENVNAME} Eg. → 1:ESB,2:AM_DOCS

5. After complete the edit, all environment values must be updated.

Q: How to Disable Notifications for a WebLogic Domain on WL-OPC?

Before starting, please make sure your WL-OPC instance up and running!

1.Go to your WL-OPC console and login → http(s)://${HOSTNAMEIP}:${PORT}/opc

2.Go to “Administration / WL Domains” page.

3.Options button will be visible when the mouse cursor over the table row.

Click the options button then the edit button.

4.Set as “off” the “Email”, “SNMP” and “Custom Action” switches, then click the save button.

5.Notifications will be blocked for the current WebLogic domain.

Now you should see the notification blocking information for the domain on the “Notifications” page.

Q: How to Disable Notifications on the WLSDM Console

1.Go to WebLogic Administrator Console and login. → http(s)://${HOSTNAMEIP}:${PORT}/console

2.Click the “Configuration” link, under the “WL Smart Dashboard & Monitoring” section.

3.On the “WLSDM System Settings” page select the “notification.settings” tab.

Supported notification types:

a. email.notification.global.setting.health
b. email.notification.global.setting.health.clear

c. email.notification.global.setting.metric
d. email.notification.global.setting.metric.clear

e. email.notification.global.setting.backend
f. email.notification.global.setting.loginspector
g. email.notification.global.setting.responsetimes

h. snmp.notification.global.setting.health
i. snmp.notification.global.setting.loginspector
j. snmp.notification.global.setting.metric

Enable/disable single notification.

4.Click “Edit” to edit the property value.

5.Switch the status to “off” and save.

Enable/Disable all or reset to default settings.

6.Click the “EMAIL Notifications” or “SNMP Notifications” button and select one of the options.

Q: How can I launch daily reports that have already passed shipping time?

If a daily report generation passed the execution time (caused by restart/maintenance etc.), WLSDM will re-generate the reports when it is possible. But reports will not be generated if there is no changes since last generation time.

Re-creating the report configuration will force the report (re)generation even the current time is passed (or already generated):

1.Open your WLSDM console and go to “Configuration > Monitoring & Diagnostics” page then jump to “Daily Reports” tab.

2.Delete each report on the table.

3.On the same page; (1) Open “Page Operations” drop-down and (2) click “New Daily Report” button.

4.Select your report type and set the execution time (to force regeneration, choose an earlier time) then click save.

Q: Can I do custom Dashboard by selecting certain services from a domain? what happens is that our director has asked us to monitor the services of 4 app and show in a Dashboard in real time?

WLSDM initially comes with four default metric dashboards:
•Data Sources
•JMS Servers

These four dashboards will be satisfy most of your requirements. But you are free to create metric and back-end dashboards (Unlimited).

Also, you can design your monitoring metrics using “WLSDM Generic DevOps MBean Module” and monitor them on your custom metrics dashboard.

Creating Metric Dashboard and Bind Monitored Metrics to Dashboard.

1.Open your WLSDM console and go to “Configuration > Metric Settings & JMX MBean Browser” page then click the page operations drop-down.

2.Type your dashboard name and click to “Add”.

3.On the current page, select a metric and click the “Edit”.

4.On the modal window, select your metric instance to the required server (1) (Also, you can reflect this action to all instances (2))

5.Select your dashboard from the list and click “Save”.

6.And click the save button again.

7.Now, check your dashboard.

Creating Metric Dashboard and Bind New Metrics to Dashboard.

1.Open your WLSDM console and go to “Configuration > Metric Settings & JMX MBean Browser” page then click the page operations drop-down.

2.Click the “Add New JMX MBean Metrics”.

3.Select a server to search its metrics.

4.Search and select your metrics.

5.(1) Create your dashboard, (2) add to “Applied Dashboards” and (3) add your metric to the list.

6.Click “Save” and select “Only current WebLogic servers selected on metric browser.” then click “Continue”.

7.Now, check your dashboard.

Q: How to separate into two different graphs for each service?





Q: How to get detail of each JMX metrics?

1.You can reach metric description by navigate “Metric Settings & JMX MBean Browser” then click information button. Also, all metric dashboards has own information panel.

Q: How can we see the average response time of a proxy service?

1.Average of responses time can be monitor in “Service Performance” dashboard. Set threshold values according to your domain.
