Jewell Loyd
Jewell Loyd is a professional basketball player for the Seattle Storm. Loyd competed at Notre Dame in college and currently is gearing up for her third professional season.
Loyd also competes overseas during the offseason of the WNBA. She stated that overseas basketball is a completely different beast than American pro ball.
“You get paid more which is a blessing. But its just a different style of play. Sometimes your teammates don’t speak english so communication is hard but at the end of the day it’s still basketball” she said.
The Notre Dame graduate also enjoys off court activities in her down time. She described a couple different hobbies that she enjoys.
“I really like to cook and watch food network, HGTV and play video games from time to time. Any time I have to hang with friends and laugh, I’m always down for that” she said.
As she is heading into her third pro season, Loyd has been around the game for a significant part of her life and heard knowledge from some of the best coaches in basketball. She has gained advice and insight from many different members of the basketball community. Her favorite advice is just a simple statement, yet it has power to it.
“Love the game and have fun”.
