Shenise Johnson is a guard for the Indiana Fever, she graduated from Miami, and currently is heading into her sixth year as a pro.

Johnson served as the fifth overall pick in the 2012 WNBA draft and has produced for the Fever ever since. The only major setback the long guard faced was last season when she suffered a torn ACL just under 20 games into the season.

Johnson looks to return this year from the injury and help the Fever to get back on track.

Johnson will be able to participate in her systematic pre game routines once again.

“I eat the same meal before every game and nap after every shootaround. I call it, the calm before the storm,” she said.

Along with playing again this year, Johnson was able to reflect on her experience thus far in the WNBA as she mentioned a favorite memory.

“My Favorite memory thus far is when we (Indiana fever), won eastern conference champs in 2014–2015. That same year we made it to game 5 of the WNBA finals,” she said.

Making it to a National Championship is every professional and amateur athletes goal. It is a place that Johnson hopes to find herself at again.

Johnson also noted that the pro game is a bit different than that of college.

“On the court, the biggest difference is making quicker, faster, stronger decisions with the ball. There is little room for error because these are the best players in the world,” she said.

Johnson is currently under a month away from the first games of the WNBA season. Good luck to her and the Indiana Fever as they chase another championship!
