2020 is off to an amazing start! We are thrilled to share that Wogrammer will be joining the team at AnitaB.org to expand our efforts to showcase diverse women in tech around the world.

When our founders, Erin Summers and Zainab Ghadiyali, first got started back in August 2014, the conversation around empowering more women and girls in STEM was quite different. What began as a simple Instagram project to tell stories about diverse women in STEM grew into a global movement where we have showcased more than 250 women from all 7 continents, and our stories have reached upwards of 4 million readers in past years.

During the early days of Wogrammer, AnitaB.org was one of our first supporters, and we’ve continued to showcase women from their vast network in our stories and our podcast.

Earlier this year, we joined AnitaB team members to amplify diverse voices of women at the ASU/GSV conference. Through that collaboration we showcased 5 amazing women (such as Rose Robinson and Ruthe Farmer) and celebrated many more on our platform. We have also worked side-by-side with their affinity groups, such as Pakistani Women in Computing and Iranian Women in Computing to co-host events, such as this TogetherWeThrive meetup.

As a lean organization with a small, passionate team, we knew we could make an even larger impact by coming together under one collective mission. By acquiring Wogrammer’s team and programs, AnitaB.org will expand our storytelling engine to fuel their “movement toward 50/50 intersectional gender equity for women in tech.”

We are so proud of what we’ve accomplished in 2019 and believe joining forces with AnitaB will help use further achieve our mission of elevating and celebrating stories of diverse women in tech. While we are excited about what this means for Wogrammer, as someone who has spent 10+ years in the nonprofit sector I’m also hopeful this merger will be a model for other nonprofits to come together for collective impact and to operate more efficiently.

We are endlessly grateful for our community of readers, supporters and donors for making these achievements possible. Special thanks to our amazing Board of Directors for sharing their passion, guidance and expertise over the years. We hope you’ll continue to show your support by reading and sharing our stories.

Cheers to a wonderful 2020!
