Kiran Bhattaram · Software Engineer · Stripe
A career in Computer Science was not something Kiran always envisioned for herself. Initially, she wanted to be chemist, physicist and then an electrical engineer. Kiran studied electrical engineer at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) but switched to Computer Science as a career path because she felt she could have impact quickly and make things people can see. She is most proud of applying Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing to campaign finance donors and has worked on Interactive News Story at The New York Times. She now spends her time building products for Stripe. In her spare time she builds turn signals for her bike using micro controller and RF receiver. Her advice is “don’t be put off by people coding for years. You can learn pretty quickly”.
