What is ethical design and what does it mean? Do we focus on keeping the users as much as possible in the app to increase engagement? Or do we choose to let the user spend minimal amount of time in the app and live a stress-free life in the detriment of revenue and engagement?

Lately (and thankfully!) a conversation about ethical design is taking shape, both in the online and the offline. We live in a world where digital products are built to sell but at the same time to solve problems.

So, we have to pragmatically ask ourselves some basic questions.

In order to define what ethical design means, first we have to look at what ethics are, what ethics are in the context of a designer, and once we know all of these, we can confidently look at what ethical design is.
