Blockchain is Changing the Advertising World

With blockchain we have the opportunity to shape the internet in a more ethical way. Social media trends are shaping an internet with apps on the blockchain that are transforming what’s possible with content and user-generated-content.

As a digital marketer and entrepreneur I’ve spent the last few years working on this with the YEAY app and the WOM Protocol. We’ve found an advertising solution that’s better for everyone and is an example of a stakeholder vision of how the future of content could work.

Of course this means creating a more honest Internet, with word-of-mouth that’s organic and transforms how we share and the incentives that are used. We envision a future of marketing too that’s Ad-free. It’s important to realize how blockchain can improve upon a world where advertising became too aggressive.

We live targeted and hunted online by more personalized ads that invade our privacy and spam us with their messaging tracking our every move. New privacy tools don’t save us from an internet that encroaches on our freedoms and data.

Consumers are becoming tired of an Advertising formula that it not only exploitative but where the internet is more prone to manipulation, misinformation, a lack of regulation and lack of truth. Nowadays, if you don’t have an ad-blocker you’re exposed to highly targeted advertising that could be trying to exploit you, even as consumer products listen to you via smart speakers, your smart TV or in new ways.

Word of Mouth Video Gets a Blockchain Upgrade

Blockchain solutions and app networks and channels can give users more power against the invasive dynamics of digital advertising that has flooded our internet like spam. At WOM, we’ve thought about the future of advertising and content from the standpoint of what’s best for all parties.

WOM Protocol is a solution that enables creators to earn money by creating content that promotes products in a genuine way. We really wanted to build a product where honesty and an alternative to advertising could both take place. The dynamics of mainstream apps, influencers and advertising needs to change. Many entrepreneurs, enthusiasts and young consumers believe in blockchain as being part of that helpful change.

With WOM a platform would be able to cut out the predatory promotion from advertisers while letting the good stuff shine through.

  • The YEAY app will be the first app to launch on the WOM Protocol to promote honest recommendations and ad-free experiences.
  • You can get to know what the WOM Protocol is about here.
  • YEAY which is an app that focuses on lifestyle recommendations of GenZ is the first app to integrate with the WOM Protocol.

A better form of word-of-mouth is possible with the blockchain and new incentives for users, including authenticators who help content ecosystem systems remain ethical and honest. Blockchain implementation also amounts to better decentralized governance of content ecosystems that improves trust.

As the future of marketing unfolds, we’ll need alternates to Ads and the invasive practices of monopoly networks. It will require new kinds of partnerships to lay the foundations for a better internet.

If you believe blockchain can help create a better internet, give this article some encouragement. After a listing in South Korea, WOM is forging ahead to build a better experience on next-gen GenZ apps.

At WOM (word-of-mouth), we’re building a blockchain-based protocol that gives brands, content creators, publishers, and social networks a way to monetize word-of-mouth recommendations on any app or platform. WOM Protocol is backed by dozens of seasoned investors from around the globe.
