WOM Protocol Development Update: August 2020
As the summer winds down, development at WOM Protocol is pushing along as strong as ever. And in addition to all of the development progress, the WOM Token was listed on yet another top-tier exchange: Liquid Exchange!
This past month we have focused a lot on YEAY app updates, as well as the web recorder which enables ecommerce sites to facilitate recommendations from their loyal customers.
The main highlight of the month, however, is the development prototype of the crypto bridge. The crypto bridge enables users in the WOM Authenticator app and the YEAY app to transfer their earned tokens to their own wallets, allowing them to cash out on exchanges or do anything else they want. This is a huge step to improving the user experience and usability of the WOM Protocol.

Crypto bridge
The crypto bridge has reached alpha testing. This bridge allows the WOM ERC20 token to flow freely between our infrastructure and the Ethereum blockchain. It gives our community the ability to deposit WOM from any Ethereum address; use WOM to stake, vote, and create content; and to withdraw WOM when needed.
The bridge has been designed for both performance and security, handling deposits in under 120 seconds and executing withdrawals instantly. Additionally, while usually the auditing of the internal chain is private (such as on major exchanges), we will publish a public and verifiable audit of the entire hashed block sequence used to back our community’s wallets. We’re excited to deliver this product, and expect to see it in production by Q4 of this year.
Liquid exchange integration (soon to be delivered)
As mentioned in the intro, the WOM Token was listed on the Liquid crypto exchange this month. Along with this listing, we are integrating Liquid’s quick exchange into the WOM Protocol website and our apps. With this integration, users will be able to purchase WOM Tokens directly on the website and in the apps securely with a credit card. Check out this article for more details:

We rebuilt and released a new WOM Protocol website. The updated version reflects new branding and better addresses the needs of the various audiences interested in the WOM Protocol.
YEAY/WOM api:
- Created a notification subsystem for YEAY and WOM applications
- Improved notifications core system
- Improved security on the main APIs
- Improved timing of TTFB on the main API
- Created an algorithm for trending creators
- Created an algorithm of determining trending videos and hashtags
- Created a language-based playlist
