How to use Anchor login with Wombat
Wombat integrating WAX has already opened an exciting multiverse of NFT-powered gaming for you. Today, we’re broadening your horizons even further by enabling the Anchor login support. As always, we’ve strived to deliver the best UX possible — however, it does have its peculiarities. But even here, we’ve got your back — prepare yourself for worry-free use of WAX dApps with this guide!
How is it different from Scatter and Wombat login?
Anchor offers an alternative UX approach to how Wombat normally works. For example, there is no in-wallet dApp view — you can simply launch them in a normal browser, with every transaction getting ‘anchored’ by the wallet. QR codes also play a much bigger operational role than they do in Wombat. With these things in mind, we adjusted some of Wombat’s functionality to offer you the most streamlined experience.
Getting started
We have retained the in-wallet dApp access for dApps with Anchor login — just like for the others. Thus, in order to launch games like R-Planet, you will need to open it within Wombat.
You can shut down Anchor authentication in Wombat’s Settings on desktop and choose to always ask if you’d want to use Anchor or Wombat to sign transactions on mobile. To configure this, please change the ‘Open by default’ settings of Anchor and Wombat in your Apps directory.
Signing transactions
If you want to sign a dApp transaction on the same device you launched this dApp on, you can simply choose the ‘Launch Anchor’ option as shown below:
If you prefer to work with dApps on a computer and authorize transactions using the mobile app, you can scan the generated QR code. You will find the scanner on the wallet’s Home screen right next to the Settings icon.
Free actions
When it comes to resource management, WAX works differently than EOS and Telos — and this affects all the wallets supporting this blockchain. With Wombat, you will be able to sign about 10 transactions per day without interruption.
After that, you might see a Greymass-branded pop-up prompting you to pay to cover the resources. Please close this pop-up — your transaction should go through without you paying.
Please note that this is a temporary workaround — we are already working out the adjustments for this flow. Our main priority is to give you unlimited access to WAX dApps, with improvements following suit.
Wrapping it up
With Anchor support going live, we hope we could ease you into WAX’s vast ecosystem and make it as smooth as possible — both for beginners and those who know WAX inside out. We will continue to unify and improve our experience across all supported blockchains to ensure you always get the best. We are grateful for the hearty welcome the WAX community has given us and we’re open to your feedback about working with this network.
