Introducing governance for $WOMBAT
Dear Wombat Family, dear $WOMBAT holders,
Today marks an important step on our path for $WOMBAT to become one of the major gaming tokens. After token staking for perks and liquidity pools, we’re introducing voting! Using their votes, $WOMBAT holders will be able to impact decisions on what we build and how we operate the Wombat Gaming Platform, including the app and Dungeon Master.
How does voting work?
If you’re staking $WOMBAT already, voting is very easy:
- Open https://staking.wombat.app/voting or find the VOTING PAGE button there
- If your wallet is not set to the Polygon network, switch to Polygon
- Vote on the option that you prefer in any of the current WEPs (Wombat Enhancement Proposals)
Each $WOMBAT token you got staked will represent one vote. Your effective votes will actually be counted at the end of the voting period of each WEP, so make sure to keep your tokens staked if you want your vote to really count.
If you’re not staking $WOMBAT, yet, find more information about staking here.
We also have a nice, short explainer video here.
What can you vote on?
We generally want to put more decisions into the hands of you, the community. We’re starting with very simple proposals; which collections to include in Dungeon Master’s next season, which run duration should become more effective, which blockchains to integrate next, etc.
However, our vision is to have the community decide on all major aspects of the platform, be it which features should be implemented next, how high certain fees should be or what to do with certain pools. Any new proposal will always be communicated via our community channels, so make sure to follow us on Twitter and join our Telegram and Discord channels so you never miss out on any new votes!
At a later stage, we also plan to introduce a proposal system for members of the community to be able to submit WEPs. Until this happens, feel free to approach us with your suggestions for new WEPs.
When will WEPs be implemented?
As with any new piece of software, the implementation of any WEP will strongly depend on its complexity. Integrating another EVM or Antelope chain will generally be (much) easier than integrating an entirely different protocol like Solana or NEAR. With many WEPs, they will essentially be kind of a configuration (like the Dungeon Master collections or Mining Powers), so they can be planned for a specific date like a season start.
Closing thoughts
Voting represents a key promise that we’ve made when launching the $WOMBAT token — that holders will be able to directly influence the future of the Wombat Web3 Gaming Platform and therefore the future of the token. The more effective the decisions of $WOMBAT holders are, the more value this will drive to the token.
NB: The Wombat team and the Spielworks company will refrain from voting with any of their team or company allocations (even if portions of those might get unlocked at some point) until all $WOMBAT tokens are in circulation, since we want the community to have a direct say into the decisions for our product and the token.
