New cashout logic on Playground

Hi everyone!

Over the past month, we have made some changes to the cashout estimates and end results to make them more accurate. Now that we’ve stress-tested these updates, let’s recap the changes and how they affect the whole process.

How the cashout works

Fundamentally, very little changed on that front. The Cashout reward calculation is still proportional to the share of Wombucks you commit compared to all the other cashout participants.

The formula is as follows:

(Wombucks you commit * Prize pool * Prime modifier)/Total committed Wombucks

The only change to that, as the disclaimer says, is the Prime modifier. Since May 2023, Prime subscribers get a 3x boost on their committed Wombucks for each cashout. We apply it during the final payout calculation after the cashout has been closed.

If you do not have a Prime subscription, your Prime modifier equals 1.

Cashout vs. Estimate

The actual cashout reward and the estimate run as two separate processes. The estimate is the number you see there up until we take the final snapshots and start processing the payouts. That happens every Friday.

While we aim to make the estimate as accurate as possible, it is never going to precisely predict the actual reward, simply because the final input data for the reward calculation is not known until the weekly cashout is finished.

The current estimate is calculated based on two things:

  • How many Wombucks you have committed (at that given point)
  • The average of the final total of committed (and Prime boosted) Wombucks for the last 4 cashouts.

So if you would like to double-check your estimate, please do not use the formula above to calculate it and look at your previous payouts and the share of your Wombucks in the overall pool.

Wrapping it up…

We hope this brings more clarity and transparency to the cashout mechanics. Moving forward, we will add a note on this to the Playground and Womplay UI — and continue looking for ways to make the estimate more accurate.
