Our New Narrative: Delivering A Data-Driven AI Gaming Future

At Spielworks, two things ring true — we’re gamers, and we’re pathfinders.

When we were founded in 2018, our goal was simple: to deliver on the potential of exciting new technologies in gaming.

Since then, two big technologies have hit the games industry. The first was web3. The second was AI.

We believe in web3. Over the past 6 years, we’ve built Wombat into a 4M+ player web3 gaming ecosystem, acquired leading web3 social app Wasder and popular asset marketplace AtomicHub, and have taken our first steps into becoming a web3 games publisher with Chainmonsters.

We also believe in AI. We understand how it lays the groundwork for intelligent NPCs, true-to-life characters and a level of immersion that’s never been seen before — but we, like you, also have real concerns around data privacy, consent, and player agency.

The question is clear: how can web3 and AI work together in a way that enhances experiences, puts the player first, and shares value to all?

As soon as AI technology took off, internally, our next steps were clear. We’ve built world-class web3 gaming products, and we’ve got the energy, passion and know-how to bring AI into the fold.

We believe in web3. We believe in AI.

We will deliver the data-driven AI web3 gaming revolution.

What does this actually mean?

We want to make this perfectly clear; we’re not jumping on a hype train, making empty promises or selling you a dream that we can’t deliver on.

We’ve spent the last 12 months laying the groundwork to make AI-powered web3 gaming our focus — acquiring the talent, products and partnerships we need to make this work.

In our previous post, we posed three questions:

  1. Why should others profit from your data while you get nothing?
  2. What if games could become living, evolving experiences?
  3. How do we gain the benefits of AI in games, whilst avoiding the concerns?

Our aim is to set the standards for AI in web3 gaming. This encompasses three main strands:

  1. Developing the protocols, network infrastructure and conventions required to drive the industry forward
  2. Implementing AI in games to enhance NPCs, narratives and gameplay features, and create new ways to play
  3. Building hands-on tools for the community, allowing you to own, develop and trade your own AI training data, and to be rewarded for doing so

This is revolution through evolution. Not only will Wombat, AtomicHub and our other products see a variety of innovative AI-powered improvements, but they’ll become the cornerstone of how we’ll deliver a new era in gaming.

With game discovery via Wombat, asset trading via AtomicHub, and Chainmonsters and Dungeon Worlds under our publishing wing, we have the full ecosystem we need to start bringing the fruits of our AI work into the public eye — and we want them to be plentiful, far-reaching, and impact not just all of our products, but the industry at large too.

What will you deliver?

Right now, we’re working on a wide array of AI protocols, systems and integrations — some long-term, some medium-term, and some you’ll see sooner than you might think.

Each of these developments has been created with web3 at its heart, and we’re keen to ensure that, however we work with AI, we do so in a way that’s right by our products, that enhances player agency, and that puts you — our wonderful community — at the center of everything we do.

Ownership, privacy and value are at the heart of these systems, and with the support of our partners (more on this soon!), our new tech stack will drive truly revolutionary changes in how we play, earn and experience video games.

We’ll keep tight-lipped for now, but these improvements will supercharge our entire ecosystem — and there are particularly exciting plans for Chainmonsters, CR01s and more.

A full breakdown of our short, medium and long-term developments will be coming soon — alongside new websites and branding, the first showcase of our in-game AI implementation, a data marketplace and much, much more — but before that, as we unite Spielworks and its products in one clear direction, we need to unite the core of our ecosystem: our tokens.

More to come later this week in the litepaper.
