Spielworks Acquires Innovative Web3 MMORPG Chainmonsters
Today, we’re excited to announce that our parent company Spielworks has acquired Chainmonsters, a cross-platform web3 monster-taming MMORPG!
This marks a new chapter for Spielworks as a company, as we work directly with the most promising web3 games to accelerate their development, support their teams, and help them reach their full potential.
What is Chainmonsters?
Chainmonsters is a monster-taming web3 MMORPG. Players capture, train, and battle blockchain-powered creatures known as Chainmons in an expansive open-world environment.
It is a true OG web3 game, beginning its development prior to the creation of the ERC-721 NFT standard on Ethereum. For many, Chainmonsters Early Access was their first taste of what web3 gaming could be.
When the team had to pause development in April 2023, we felt it was a great shame. Chainmonsters had a ton of potential, a lot of interesting mechanics, and a strong community. The team deserved the opportunity to realize their vision — and by working together, we can create one of the most exciting, fun and rewarding web3 games out there.
Over the past few weeks, we’ve been working with the Chainmonsters team to bring the game back to life. Expect a relaunch date to be announced soon.
Becoming a web3 games publisher
At Spielworks, we’re committed to powering the next generation of high-quality, exciting and rewarding web3 games.
To do that, we need to enable the most talented web3 game studios to do what they do best — and by bringing them into the Spielworks family, we can do just that.
Chainmonsters has all the ingredients to become a truly outstanding web3 game. With the vast expertise in their team, we aim to create a gold standard for what a fun, exciting and rewarding web3 game can be — and we hope it will be the first of many that we help to realize its potential.
Through the Wombat app, the $WOMBAT token, the AtomicHub marketplace, the acquisition of Wasder and the $WAS token, we’ve taken web3 game distribution and asset trading to a whole new level. Now, it’s time to do the same to web3 games themselves.
Accelerating web3 gaming
For Chainmonsters, the work has already started — both on the game’s development, and on integrating it into the Spielworks ecosystem.
In the coming weeks, we’ll be revealing a brand-new website for Chainmonsters, an all-new whitepaper, and announcing a relaunch date.
