Calling on up-and-coming TV writers: applications for the 2018 Fox Writers Lab (FWL) are now being accepted. The goal of the Lab is to build “a strong pipeline of well-rounded talent for potential staffing on Fox television shows, films, and other Fox Entertainment properties.”

During the four-month intensive program, eight writers will be brought in for priority staffing meetings for the FWL Staff Writer position on a Fox television show. They will also receive a small stipend. Of those eight writers, one will be selected as the 2018 FWL Fellow and receive a blind script deal with Fox.

New writers are welcome to apply as well as those who have previously staffed, produced, or published work — but writers cannot have had a pilot produced. In particular, Fox is looking for “writers who have diverse voices, backgrounds, and life experiences.”

Applications must include a personal statement, one original half-hour or hourlong comedy or drama pilot script, three loglines for other projects, and two letters of recommendation.

The FWL application deadline is October 22 or when the program reaches its cap of 750 submissions, whichever comes first. You can apply and find more information on the FWL website. The site also includes a list of FAQs.
