Fran, “Catastrophe’s” ambitious and immaculately-coiffed scene-stealer, would be so pleased. Ashley Jensen, who portrays Fran, is set to star in the six-part series “Love, Lies & Records,” Deadline reports. The show will begin shooting in March.

According to Deadline, “Love, Lies & Records” will focus on Jensen’s Kate Dickenson, a Town Hall Registrar, “as she juggles her personal life with the daily dramas of births, marriages, and deaths.” The source summarizes, “After a dream promotion to the top job of Superintendent, Kate finds herself increasingly torn by the endless responsibilities of being a modern working mother. Things go from complicated to impossible when a disgruntled colleague threatens to expose a secret from her past.”

Alongside Jensen, “Love, Lies & Records” will star Adrian Bower (“Granchester,” “The Last Kingdom”), Kenny Doughty (“Vera”), Rebecca Front (“War and Peace”), and Mark Stanley (“Dark River”).

The series is penned by Kay Mellor (“The Syndicate”), and directed by Cilla Ware (“Silk”) and Dominic Leclerc (“The A Word”). Yvonne Francas serves as producer. Mellor and the BBC’s Elizabeth Kilgarriff are executive producers.

“Love, Lies & Records” is produced by Rollem Productions for BBC One, with Acorn Media Enterprises serving as the North American co-production partner

As Deadline writes, All3Media International will handle “Love, Lies & Records’” international distribution, while Acorn holds UK, Ireland, and Australia/New Zealand rights.

Jensen previously toplined Acorn’s first original series, “Agatha Raisin,” based on M. C. Beaton’s novels about a burnt-out PR exec turned amateur detective. The actress’ other credits include series “Love & Marriage,” “The Escape Artist,” and “Ugly Betty,” as well as films like “Barney Thomson” and “The Lobster.”
