“Homeland”: Showtime

The last time we saw Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes), she had failed to stop an assassination attempt on President-elect Keane (Elizabeth Marvel). Turns out Carrie and the entire intelligence community will pay for that mistake, a new trailer for Season 7 of “Homeland” reveals. Keane has authorized the arrest of 200 intelligence experts without bringing charges against them, a move Carrie calls “some of the most expansive civil rights abuses in the history of our nation.”

Season 7 will see Carrie fight to secure the release of the detainees, her mentor and friend Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin) among them. Taking on the president will likely be one of the most difficult challenges of Carrie’s career so far. After all, her sense of duty to her country and its safety is how she defines herself. “Nobody grows of dreaming of taking down criminals inside their own government,” a new colleague (Morgan Spector) says in commiseration.

Danes has received two Emmys and five consecutive nominations for playing Carrie. Lesli Linka Glatter has netted four Emmy directing eps of “Homeland”

The seventh season of the “Homeland” kicks off February 11 on Showtime.
