Lead of Women in Public Spaces Project

Dharini is a biotechnologist and a biochemical engineer who is currently working with the Governance Innovation Lab to look into the accessibility of women in public spaces so as to develop urban spaces into a safe and women friendly setting. She is working to induce a paradigm shift in the general perception of women inclusiveness in the public and creating a hassle free environment for lactating mothers in public spaces by establishing baby care units in association with the Municipal Corporation for the very first time in Kerala. She also endeavours to bring about policy changes in the constitutional framework by emphasizing gender neutral urban spaces. Additionally she is doing a research project on the key roles essayed by Women politicians in Kerala and proposing the plausible series of future women panelists in the helm of the Kerala govt.

“The Feeding Room Project”

This is her first social initiative that had been launched on November 27,2017. She is from the capital city of Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala in India. On witnessing a first hand experience of her neighbor who had to breastfeed her newborn standing the unbearable stench of the toilet in the restroom of a popular diner in the city, she decided to set up breastfeeding rooms in public spaces like bus stands, parks etc and also collaborate with private and public enterprises to help them set up feeding rooms for their customers and employees. On doing so she aims to bring about a policy change in Government of Kerala mandating the necessity of feeding rooms in such public utilities.

Asha Jomis is a policy researcher. Asha holds an M.Phil in Technology Policy from the University of Cambridge and is the receipt of Commonwealth Scholarship. She also received a full scholarship for the Certificate of Advanced Studies in Public Governance and Administration at ETH, Zurich. Asha’s research interest in Public policy is focused on developing a model for platform governance. In 2016, she was presented the Devi award by the New Indian express for innovation and dynamism. She is also the founder of women’s business incubation program and Augsys technologies Pvt Ltd.

Anju Muraleedharan is a Research Affiliate at Women’s Business Incubation Program. She holds a diploma in Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering as well as diploma in Computer Application.
