Accessibility of women to public spaces is restricted by fear of sexual harassment and tangible inconspicuous borders of gender specific areas. Gender neutral urban spaces needs to be emphasized and integrated by the help of architects, urban planners and designers. Moreover making the city women friendly by setting up of feeding rooms for lactating mothers would revolutionize the demography of breastfeeding practices and the general growth and development of infants across Kerala.

The first initiative as part of this is “The Feeding Room Project” which aims to set up breastfeeding rooms for lactating mothers in public spaces like bus, parks etc in the capital city of Kerala; Thiruvanathapuram in India. The objective is to create a hassle free environment for breastfeeding and thus encourage this healthy practice.
