Job Titles in Conversational AI

So many job roles, so little clarity: why I feel the need for more standardization

If you ask a dozen Conversation Designers what their daily activities are, you’ll get a dozen different answers.

And this is not true only for designers, of course. A similar unclarity can be found in all Conversational AI-related job roles.

The same role can be addressed with different titles and the same title can have a hundred meanings.

Although this lack of standardization is natural in such a recent field, it is also confusing both for people who already work in it and for people who are moving their first steps into it.

The goal of this article is not to find a solution to the matter, but just to raise awareness about it, to help job seekers look for the right position for them and to help employers or recruiters to write clearer job descriptions in order to provide a clearer idea of which skills they’re looking for.
