Finishing the Unfinished: Women Make Challenge Launch Day!

We all have unfinished projects: an app we started sketching but never built, a podcast with a list of guests we never reached out to, a book which really is just an outline and some post-it notes.

Surveys show that up to 87% of households have unfinished home projects, and word on the Internet (but should we really trust the Internet?) is that 97% of writers never finish their novel. Heck, even the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona and the Last Supper by Leonardo Da Vinci are both technically unfinished!

I don’t know if it’s because the end of the year is dangerously looming, but lots of people seem to decide around that time to tackle the unfinished. To support them, there’s Hacktoberfest, NaNoWriMo, and many other initiatives encouraging them to create something in 30 days.

30 days from idea to launch

I wasn’t planning on participating in any of these this year, until Women Make and newCo partnered up to create the Just F*ing Ship It In 30 Days Challenge. On October 1st, 115 people joined and committed to build and ship something — anything! — by November 1st. Some people decided to work on an art project, an app, a podcast, an e-commerce website, or even to design some stickers.

Throughout the month, we used both the newCo platform and the Women Make Telegram group to share updates, ask for feedback, and encourage each other.

And, one month later… We did it! The Women Make community has created:

What about that ebook project?

A promised, you can, starting today… *drumrolls* 🥁

… purchase my ebook, MAKE & SHINE: An Indie Maker’s Guide to Personal Branding!

It’s 80+ pages of super actionable tips to define your personal brand, grow your audience, get featured in the press, speak at events, and a lot more. Basically a bunch of stuff I’ve learned to do over the years on my own, and I think can be useful to other makers.

I will be sharing the book with my mailing list tomorrow, but — as this is my first time ever publishing something like this — I want to make sure everything works fine first. So if you notice anything that’s wrong, please do let me know.

Also, if you’re a fast reader, I would love to get your opinion so I can add some reviews to the website before the Product Hunt launch on Monday. I will of course link back to your website, so hopefully that’s free traffic for you. (writing testimonials for other products is one of the tips in the book!)

Please feel free to use the code WOMENMAKE when ordering the complete package for a special early bird discount :)

P.S. If you’re interested in publishing an ebook yourself, I’ll write another article about the whole process soon, including creation tools, publishing platforms, and marketing techniques. Sign up below to be notified! 👇
