An upcoming documentary produced by Ryan Murphy, Alexa L. Fogel, and Brendan Mason, dropped its trailer recently, and the world is letting a collective ‘aww’!
This is the story of a 65+ year love between Terry Donahue and Pat Henschel. A lesser known info about Donahue is that, she helped to inspire the 1992 film A League of Her Own .
The Netflix documentary, titled A Secret Love takes us to Chicago, where they first met, and how they got away with being ‘just friends’ to many. Their dilemma about whether or not to come out to their conservative families. And finally, deciding whether or not to get married.
“Well, if there were, would they be accepted?” Henschel asks. “Because we are a couple.” — as the trailer shows them visiting a retirement community. If that doesn’t break all our hearts and send us on a frenzy to look for that tissue box, I don’t know what will.
According to TIME, the women fell in love with 1947. As Donahue would play baseball, Henschel would travel with the team to watch and they eventually moved to Chicago. Donahue died in 2019 at age 93 but filming was done from 2013 to 2018.
The project, will launches globally on April 29, will add to an array of lesbian-specific content that is scheduled to appear on Netflix.
