Women at Carroll — Meet Gayle Getts

How are you adding value to the JCU community?

Wind Ensemble teacher/conductor

How many years have you been at JCU?

3

What is special about JCU?

The John Carroll students have such a positive attitude and willingness to learn. We have a great time learning to play chamber and band music; the performances have been extremely successful.

What was your happiest moment at JCU?

I have had numerous moments but I do believe a highlight each year is performing Leroy Anderson’s Sleigh Ride, complete with sleigh bells and whip crack, at the annual Christmas Carroll Eve concert.

If you had a magic wand, how would you improve the JCU experience?

I would be able to teach MORE classes here at John Carroll and meet MORE students.

Fun fact about you:

The first Wind Ensemble I taught about 3 years ago had 6 students and we have grown to almost 25 which makes it a small band. The positive growth and love of music has made class a total delight.
