Women at Carroll — Meet Nicole Loudin

How are you adding value to the JCU community?

Head Softball Coach

How many years have you been at JCU?

5.5

What is special about JCU?

The people! It is so nice to walk around campus and have so many people say talk to you, say hi, or simply smile as they pass. It is not like that everywhere, but it makes it feel more like home than any other job I have had.

What was your happiest moment at JCU?

My happiest moment is actually one that brought tears to an entire field. Ally Kleinhans, an alum, battled cancer her entire time here. In her senior year her treatments had damaged her body enough to end her career (she was a student coach for us), but we were able to let her bat on senior day. Even though she could barely walk, she hit a ball into shallow right field and the outfielder didn’t make a play. She was subbed out for a runner and left to a standing ovation and the whole place in tears. It was an amazing moment of perseverance and the power of sports. She had several more at-bats on the day with great contact and ended her time her on an amazing note.

If you had a magic wand, how would you improve the JCU experience?

Better facilities. We have some amazingly beautiful buildings on the outside, but we need to keep improving the insides and utilize the space we have better.

Fun fact about you:

I love rock climbing and actually have a small wall in my garage at home. I also have the cutest daughter who frequently visits sporting events and practices.
