Stylist, personal shopper and Co-Founder of Gather, which is a lifestyle application that helps people to create their home, office, cafe or bar of their dreams. She loves working with plastic, silk, marble and steel, these are her favorite materials. We have asked her about entrepreneurship, ups and downs, and she also gave a few very motivating advices about startups.

What do you think, what kind of features and skills are needed for somebody to be able to start private entrepreneurship?

I would definitely say vocation and persistence, and of course, you have to know exactly, what do you want and do for it, to make it happen. Other than that, it is very important, to find the right partners to work with on a long-term period.

What kind of failures or toughness did you have to face during your startup’s existence?

We are only in the beginning of our journey, so I think really big toughnesses and failures are just yet to come. I was the only member from the original group, who stayed, it was tough for me and it made me questioning the project. It was also really hard to find companies to work with, especially because we don’t have an “endless” budget.

What would you say to women entrepreneurs, who would like to create a startup?

We have to know our strengths and how can we use, develop them the best way. It has advantages and disadvantages if a woman is an entrepreneur, but I think the world needs more women as leaders and innovators, not only as customers.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of being your own boss and standing on your own feet?

Advantages:

  • It gives a lot more freedom, than being an employee
  • we do it with love and enthusiasm, we can make our own decisions
  • the income depends on you (of course this is a disadvantage as well)
  • we never know what will be the result, but there is something exciting about influencing our future

Disadvantages:

  • running your own business can be very lonely sometimes
  • more stress, bigger risk
  • you have to motivate yourself which is not always easy
  • fail is a lot more painful, as if you are fired from a company that you don’t own

How far did you go with your startup? What are your plans for the future?

As I said before, we are in the “early-stage” category, but currently we are working on introducing our brand, and next year will our application debut on the market. We have a lot of plans for the future, our first and most important task is to get to know our group of targets and develop our service based on that, to make it likeable and valuable. On the other hand, we want to expand in the B2B direction, but that is only a long-term plan.

Thank you for the interview, and we wish you a lot of success in the future!
