The Polish semifinal was the third out of 12 rounds to be held all over in Europe this year as part of Women Startup Competition (WSC).

“I saw so many surprised faces when the participants watched the videos about their presentations during the mentoring. That’s a really honest mirror but we ensure them to analyze and develop their presentations with our guidance before the competition. It was my honour as a mentor to see how quickly can empowered women grow, help each other as a mastermind and become a confident speaker on stage.” Andrea Kurucz — mentor of WSC

28 startups applied for this round online and after an initial evaluation by an online jury, 9 were selected to attend the mini boot camp and mentoring program at Mindspace Warsaw.

All 9 startups, represented by their female founder or CEO, gave impressive pitches showcasing their startups to a full house, filled with investors, business mentors and an industry expert panel. Before pitching, competing startups received mentoring from some of Europe’s leading female entrepreneurs, Sylwia Gorska-Przytulska Business & Communication Coach, Jaroslaw Kuzniar Program Director of Onet, Inga Kasak, Managing Director of Black Swan Fund and Borys Szyc celebrated actor.

Second place was awarded to 1000realities, who create craft fully immersive, interactive applications which will enchant their customers. The third place went to NuDelta, who have developed a way to digitize data from any basic image — a simple snap, digital scan, or PDF document.

In Poland, the proportion of female entrepreneurs is also extremely high at European level. According to the 2017 Women’s Entrepreneur Mastercard Index, 29.6% of the 54 countries are ranked 11th.
