Want to volunteer for Women Who Code Silicon Valley but missed our recent quarterly Information Session and Onboarding? No problem! We’ve got you covered.

Here’s what you missed:

We introduced our current directors: Josine Verhagen, Leann Periera, and Anuja Verma

We welcomed our new directors promoted from within our chapter: Olga Buchonina, Shivva Subramani, Bindu Mohan and Bharti Kripalani.

Women Who Code Silicon Valley (WWC-SV) goal is to help women excel in technology. Our goal is to reach at least 50% women in careers in technology. We are dedicated to educating and elevating women in tech. This WWC-SV prides itself on teaching leadership skills in a safe environment for women. We supporting each other in developing these skills without fear of failure.

With the help of our leaders and evangelists, we provide coding resources, study groups, leadership skills, tickets, scholarships and a global community to women in technology.

We also want to celebrate your success together. As members of our chapter get promoted or accomplish their goals, we share and celebrate the achievements together. As women we should not be ashamed or hide our success, we want every member to be proud of their accomplishments.

If you’re not ready to commit time to a leadership role, we are still looking for volunteers in the following areas:

Marketing and Communication

  • Write articles for our blog
  • Develop our newsletter
  • Create marketing posts for events and general posts for social media

Fundraising

  • Connecting leaders to a host for their events
  • Maintain host martix of current and potentials hosts
  • Keep companies/hosts engaged so they continue to work with us
  • Create new partnerships with companies to host our events

Hackathon Management

  • Full-time cycle event management that encompasses planning, funding, and donor management, volunteer coordination, etc.

Finance

  • Collect, manage, and report income and expenses, from collected money to in-kind donations.

Operational support

  • Post Meet Up Events
  • Coordinate sponsorship (find host for events)
  • Coordinate communications (quarterly newsletter updates, social media)
  • Coordinate additional speakers with coordinator
  • Send hosts in-kind donation forms

Technical Study Groups

  • Select technical topics of interest and coordinate learning plan or curriculum
  • Identify technical expertise to teach and select materials
  • Coordinate teachers and schedule sessions
  • Work cross functionally with marketing, operations, data and metrics groups to establish, coordinate support, communicate events, and measure outcomes
