What on earth are we thinking?

The 2017 Wellington edition of WWGSD is running on 22–24 September. Election weekend here in New Zealand. When the team settled on the dates, we wondered how to present it to our prospective attendees. We see it as an awesome opportunity to shelter ourselves from the politics and focus on developing ideas to instigate meaningful change around us.

Our experience from the three WWGSD iterations thus far has shown the discussions and connections made over the weekend have enduring and productive impact on the lives of attendees. People gave voice to plans and hands shot up to assist making them reality.

We are excited at the potential an election weekend event presents: diverse minds coming together to formulate ambitious solutions to social, economic and political challenges at the beginning of a new government term.

On the night of the 23rd, for the politics nerds, we will provide a place to gather, discuss, chew fingernails (if that’s your thing) and watch the results roll in.

For those who would rather watch paint dry, there will be politics-free spaces and company to enjoy on the Saturday evening.

We highly recommend casting your vote early! However rest assured the team is also looking at providing transport to the closest polling place on the day should you need it.

P.S. Are you registered to vote? Need to update your details? Check the elections website to make sure.

P.P.S. Registrations for WWGSD Wellington 2017 close on 30 July 2017. Register your interest here.
