We can all prove that technology has come a far way, one of which Karl Benz, a German Mechanical Engineer dared to invent the first true modern automobile which was much different from existing designs in 1885/1886. It was commonly called the horseless carriage.

According to Suzanne Deffree (2017), “The horseless carriage had a water-cooled internal combustible engine, three wheels, tubular framework, tiller steering and a buggy like seat for two.” The automobile was later included further with some elements that later became the backbone of recent vehicles some of which are; a braking system, lubrication cups, electrical ignition, combustion pipe, carburetor.

All these elements were later developed on and transformed into modern cars (some of which can be found in some cars) with better eye-catching design, more comfortable seats and safer doors, built in Wi-Fi hotspots to stay connected even on the road, windows that clean themselves, cameras that see everything around your car, side mirrors, push buttons to make any command, in-built systems that alert you and automatically brake before a potential accident, speakers that provide alluring sound around your car, and finally cars that can drive themselves. Self-driving cars can be proven as one of the accomplishments of putting AI into good use.

According to David Silver (2017), self-driving cars have five core components.

1. Computer vision — this serves as the eyes of a self-driving car by using camera images to find lanes and track other vehicles.

2. Sensor Fusion — this is the integration of data from other sensors to build a better understanding for the vehicles environment.

3. Localization — to figure out where in the world we are, just like the GPS in our cellphones.

4. Path planning- Prediction of what the other vehicles around us want to do and where we would like to go.

5. Control- this is mostly in charge of the vehicles actions, much like when the vehicle needs to turn the steering wheel or use the brake.

Of recent we’ve seen or read about a FORD self-driving car delivering pizzas for customers. Customers had to tap in a set of four digits on the window for verification purposes to grab their pizza. It is often reported that self-driving cars will eliminate some of the issues with delivery services, it could be programmed so there won’t be illegal and annoying Double Park on the roads and customers won’t spend extra money tipping the driver.

We spend hours (waste of time) and an amount of considerable effort in driving every day and every day you drive, you face a risk. There are a lot of things most people I know would love to do in the car, as the car is moving to their destination such as reading, making calls, preparing schedules, worshipping views. Most times chauffeurs are employed but not without pay. Apart from delivering pizzas, when will self-driving cars start to deliver people? It would really make a lot of changes especially in places around the world, where there is no obedience to traffic lights/rules, going over the speed limit/driving recklessly, deliberate confusion on the road/ pedestrians risk/ loss of lives because of bad driving and excessive traffic.

Artificial intelligence, apart from making life easier, will also make life more meaningful by helping to sustain order, laws and common sense in our daily lives. Basically, it can help us to keep us in check.

Also, in recent times, there are a variety of artificial intelligence systems that can do a whole lot of things.

In the category of games, it is reported that AI systems could play games and also beat humans.

In education, there have been better AI tutors that students can refer to.

In medicine, it can discover new uses for existing drugs, detect a range of conditions from images.

In agriculture, it can detect crop diseases, spray pesticide with pinpoint accuracy and predict crop yields.

In security, it can spot and alarm you of, burglars in your homes, offices or buildings.

In law, it can execute a case legal research

It can also be a personal assistant to our daily lives by assisting in scheduling.

It can do much more dangerous work that threatens human life everyday such as; mining.

These are some of the major categories of job/life made easier with the use of AI.

AI can give much more relevance to our lives and help us sustain sanity, better behavioral composure, work ethics, agile ability, mandatory self-check and upright thinking.

When the first modern car was driven, people were frightened and thought it could only be the work of the devil for that to be possible. Now, that artificial intelligence is here, it is commonly noted that it poses a threat to human life, jobs, relevance and should not be given a full-fledged rise because it is going to end up being detrimental.

AI has a major role to play in our society and will play that role soon enough if we are wise enough not to keep ridiculing. The society should do away with all the fears as such was done for prior technologies. We deserve an easier better life as humans and AI is already making that happen for us, so why are some of us jittery? Every kind of question has been answered concerning AI by some of the key people in the tech industry.

AI is the future of technology, human sustenance and a better/easier society. It is better to join the bandwagon of belief instead of casting aside the thoughts of the development of AI, so as to not be struck with unexpected surprises and unintended hate.

If care is not taken, the world would move on without you!
