When you start something new, you feel like you have to start to learn from scratch and that a giant mountain of challenges is awaiting you in the horizon.

And, while It may be partially true, you may already have some hidden skills that may be not only useful in this new journey, but also indispensable.

In this article, I will show you that you may have some of the most important skills already.

Empathy is non-negotiable in UX Design.

Thanks to it, you will have the ability to put yourself in the user's shoes, and be able to find solutions to meet their needs and goals more easily. Moreover, you will be able to connect with them.

2. Creativity

Everyone is creative, even if they do not think so. Finding solutions to problems, coming up with ideas, and even finding original birthday presents are signs of creativity.

Thinking outside the box is key to finding new solutions to old-as-time issues.

3. Communication

You may have the greatest ideas, but if you do not know how to transmit them to your colleagues, bosses and stakeholders, they are useless.

As marketers do, you have to be able to “sell” your idea to others, and emphasize its importance and potential applications.

4. Collaboration

Collaboration is also a key ability for designers and any other profession.

People together can archive great things that would be unattainable for a single person: different skills sets and perspectives can create better products.

5. Analytical Thinking

Being able to do this critical step is key to identifying patterns and trends.

As I mentioned at the beginning of the article, starting in the design field is a challenge. But you may have more skills than you imagined in the first place.

Overall, designers need to be well-rounded individuals with a combination of skills and personality traits to be successful in their field. By possessing qualities such as empathy, creativity, communication skills, collaboration and analytical thinking, designers can create truly effective and innovative designs that meet the needs of their users.

These skills also help designers to work well in a team environment and make informed decisions, which are essential for creating high-quality designs that meet the needs of the clients and users.
