The concept of mentoring is great, but it can cause a lot more stress than it needs to.

While there is often pressure for us to constantly grow and advance to higher roles in our careers, we don’t always know how to do this.

Even within the field of tech, there are many different career paths available, and roles of varying levels within them. How do we get from a mid-level engineer to a senior? Or what about going from a senior to an Engineering Manager?

So what do we do if we’re ambitious but we don’t know what steps to take to reach that next opportunity?

We find a mentor.

I have had a mentor before, and I am a mentor now. However, the concept of finding a mentor to help in your career progression is less effective and more stressful than it needs to be.
