2 Years of Women’s March Global

Do you remember where you were 2 years ago?

The movement we know as Women’s March Global was started two years ago by organisers around the world (in 81 countries and over 600 marches) and the same organisers have continued, over the past two years, to speak out and unite for women’s rights and human rights worldwide.

The Global movement was started by committed people who knew that this movement born of the election of the current U.S. president was a moment in time that they had to join. That the issues Americans were facing and awakening to, were issues globally that they had already seen and issues that still persist.

In 2017 alone, Women’s March Global organisers led actions around Global Divestment, Vote Against Hate, Ending Slavery in Libya, LGBTQIA+ rights, Calling attention to the violence women around the world face and so much more.

Over the next few weeks it is my privilege to highlight some of the faces of our vibrant Global Community. Individuals who worked tirelessly to bring to light issues that not only affect them on a local level, but have also engaged in action Globally. I will be sharing the stories of our partners, community organisers, and team members.

Until then — please join us at a #WomensWave event near you! We have a growing list of our events on our Global Platform and can’t wait for you to join us 19–20 Jan at a city near you.
