Through the Looking Glass
Wonderland’s governance has been on the back burner for quite some time. Through the Looking Glass will provide periodic updates with the aims to increase communication and engagement for DAO members to participate in Wonderland’s future.
This update will touch on:
- Gaming investment proposal: The Beacon
- Governance improvement: New Forum Structure
- Community concerns: Treasury management & Governance
The Beacon
The Beacon is an action-heavy game on the blockchain that leverages emergent gameplay and procedural generation. Trade and fight with NFT items and collectibles with friends in a competitive and engaging gaming experience.
A fun-first blockchain game that offers endless replayability with code generated dungeons (ex: Diablo, Binding of Isaac, etc..) and an immersive social world. NFT loot, character cosmetics, housing system, generational pets, multiplayer and more.

Governance Improvement
In an effort to clarify the current governance framework, the initial tutorial has been improved to better reflect how the framework was meant to be executed. There was confusion around the process for proposals to go from Request for Comments to Wonderland Improvement Proposal. This new tutorial has expanded on the original to explain the process as it was intended to work.

Additionally, the current forum structure puts all initial topics in one category, General Discussion, until they are pushed forward to Request for Comment. This structure does not make the difference between legitimate proposals and discussions on topics that won’t be presented to the DAO for a vote.
In January, we had more than 500 new topics created. This makes it hard to keep up for investors who have limited time to get involved in the governance process when there is a high level of engagement

Community Concerns
Treasury Management:
Throughout the last few weeks, community members have raised concerns around delays in multisig transactions as well as unclearly roles and authority from members of the Core Team. In the recent AMA with Daniele on May 5th, he indicated that part of his vision was for the protocol to take a more corporate approach.
Wonderland never had a clearly defined structure and it has been one of the main criticism of the DAO. Past proposal have tried to change this situation, but never succeeded for various reasons. With that in mind, a recent proposal to better define Daniele’s role and authority posted:

Engagement Requirements:
Additionally, concerns have been raised in regards to the requirements for a proposal to move forwards. The current framework indicates "If the discussion suggests support, the second step of the Wonderland Governance Process takes place”. However, there are no formal requirements.
Currently, it is up to the discretion of the forum moderators to judge community support and approve proposals submitted to move forward. That being said, if more formal requirements would be identified by the community, it would help make the whole process less subjective to biases and clearer for all parties involved.
Over the coming weeks, we will work with the community to try and define better parameters in order to improve our governance process.
