The WoodLand Eco project is focused on planting trees. But besides them, we grow something more. It is what gives us fresh and clean air, habitat for animals and plants, and the health of us and our children in the future. What else do we grow, besides trees — read in today’s article.

Fresh air

The process of photosynthesis takes place in the leaves of trees. Leaves absorb CO2 and in return give us the oxygen we breathe.

Plants and factories emit huge amounts of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Because of this, the integrity of the ozone ball is violated. As a result, the sun’s rays penetrate with greater force and heat the planet. A greenhouse effect is created on Earth.

It can be prevented by planting trees. The more trees, the greater the area of leaves that are capable of photosynthesizing carbon dioxide.

Habitat for animals and plants

Trees and forests in general are home to plants and animals. The main reason for the decline in the population of forest animals is man. Deforestation and thinning of forests in 60% of cases is the cause of extinction of animals. The situation with tropical forests, in particular with the Amazon jungle, is especially serious.

“Without animals living in forests, the ability of trees to absorb carbon dioxide is reduced. Tree species that play an important role in protecting the climate may die if the animals living in the forests die out,” says Susanne Winter, Forest Program Manager at WWF Germany.

Healthy cities

Trees in cities normalize temperatures and reduce the negative impact of a large number of cars. Trees in cities create green areas that have a positive effect on the mental and physical health of a person. You can notice it for yourself: after a walk in the park in the shade, the mood improves and strength appears.

Trees create shade and lower the temperature: the temperature difference between the asphalt in the sun and the lawn in the shade can reach more than 20 degrees. If trees are cut down, then areas in the city can appear in which it is easy to get a heat stroke, since the asphalt heats up very much.

The air in the city is polluted daily by cars, plants and factories. And if we are unable to stop production, then we can plant trees!

Conclusion

Trees reduce noise levels, produce oxygen and absorb CO2, purify the air and improve health, provide shelter for birds, promote biodiversity in the city, save energy by replacing air conditioners, protect from the wind, nourish and stabilize the soil.

Let’s green the planet together!
